Locate the existing OBD-II port in your car (this is a standard feature on almost all cars since 1996. This is usually located under the dashboard on the driver’s side. The OBD-II port is the port mechanics plug into to check your car’s diagnostics.
If you have trouble locating the port, review the vehicle’s user guide that was distributed by the manufacturer at purchase.
Unclip the OBD-II port from its existing bracket. In some vehicles the port simply clicks out of the existing bracket while in other vehicles you must unscrew two bolts that hold the port in the existing bracket
Attach the provided OBD-II harness to the vehicle’s OBD-II port. The power attachment wires (Red and Black) should face out away from the existing OBD-II port.
If you were able to simply unclip the existing OBD-II port from the existing clip without having to manually unscrew the bracket in step 2 then simply click the OBD-II port at the end of the harness into the existing bracket clip.
If you had to unscrew the existing bracket in step 2 then replace with the new bracket provided in your kit, then clip in the new OBD-II port from the harness. (Re-use existing screws to fasten the bracket in place)
Attach the power chord to the OBD-II port by finding the black and red wire end on the power chord and clipping it to the power clip (red and black wires) coming off of the OBD-II harness. Line up the knob on the side of the power chord with the clip on the OBD-II power connector. THE YELLOW WIRE SHOULD BE LEFT FREE, IT DOES NOT HOOK UP TO ANYTHING.
Connect the other end of the power cord (the end with three prongs) into the device by clicking the three prongs of power chord into the left black outlet of the device.
You should see the green and red lights blinking on the device. Once the device is fully connected to the system only the green light will blink (this could take up to 15 minutes).
When only the green light is blinking you can now connect on line to locate your vehicle.
Gather the power chord wires and neatly wrap the Velcro strap around the bundled chords to hold them in place.
Find a spot under the dash to place the Velcro patch with the sticky back. Once patch is in place attach the Velcro strap holding the bundled power chord to the Velcro patch to hold it in place under the dash. Make sure the device is situated so that the bar code sticker that says “This Side Down” is facing towards the floor of the car.
Congratulations, your device is installed!
